Creating a lead character for our story

Still thinking of settings for the story? So am I, just a quick update, the more I think about it the more I want to create a universe in which fantasy has arisen in the modern day world. With skyscrapers, museums and everything in between. But that's not for me to decide, this is our story so I must take input from everyone.

So, after we have decided where our setting will be, created famous landmarks for the characters to quest upon, we must produce a character to follow. This may not be a main character, but a start character if you will. As you know, characters will appear as and when throughout the story, building their personalities and relationships up as we travel along.

The following questions must be asked of a character:

  • Gender?
  • Race. Human or otherwise?
  • Character type. Warrior or wizard or something inbetween?
  • Looks. What the appearance of our character will be.
  • Name. The most important feature in a book (As it will be read a lot, so an intriguing name is required)
These are basic outlines of any character and further details will be added as we move along.
So, get your thinking caps on and help us write what could turn out to be the longest journey of our lives
